Welcome to The Arts Society Wilmslow

Our lively programme of illustrated lectures covers a wide selection of topics including art, architecture, literature and music. Our expert speakers are approved by the national Arts Society, to which we are affiliated. In addition to our season of nine evening lectures, we organise interesting day visits and social events.

We are a long established group and have a membership of around 150.  Our meetings take place from September to June (except December) on the second Thursday in the month at 7.30pm at The United Reformed Church, Wilmslow, SK9 1PR.

Programme for 2026-27

We have a varied and exciting programme of lectures and events arranged for our next season, September 2026 - June 2027.  Click here to see all the details.

Membership Renewal 2026-27

The annual subscription fee has been held at the same rate since 2023 but because of increased costs it will increase for 2026-27 to £60 per person if paid by 31 August. After that date it will be £65. This still compares well with other societies in the area.

We are nearly at the end of another successful season. We hope you will agree that the programme for 2026-27 (here) looks just as enjoyable and informative. We will not be asking existing members to complete a form this year. All you need to do is:

· Confirm by email or letter that none of your details have changed (i.e. name, address, email address and telephone number)

· Pay the membership fee of £60 (£65 from 1st September) by bank transfer (preferred) or by cheque.

Emails should be sent to membership.taswilmslow@proton.me

Bank transfers to:

Account name: The Arts Society Wilmslow;  Bank: Co-operative Bank; Sort Code: 08-92-99; Account: 65494486

If paying by bank transfer please include your surname and initial as reference.  Letters and cheques (made payable to The Arts Society Wilmslow) should be sent to TASW Membership Secretary, 40 Hawthorn Road, Hale WA15 9RG

Even if you cannot attend all of the lectures and events organised by the Wilmslow society, it is worth noting that your membership also gives access to the national Arts Society. Through this you can receive newsletters, articles, updates and members offers. You can also access their programme of online lectures here [https:/theartssociety.org/lectures-at-home] .

Sponsorship

We are very pleased to thank our local sponsors, Equilibrium Financial Planning, who have kindly agreed to extend their support of our Society for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

The Arts Society needs your help

Our membership numbers are growing, the financial position is secure, for now at least, and we have a programme of lovely talks matched by a line-up of social activities.

The Society is run by its members for the members.  There are no paid staff.  All the planning and delivery of our activities is done by a team of volunteers.  And at the moment we urgently need to recruit reinforcements to the team.

There are little jobs and bigger ones and we would be delighted to hear from members who have the time and inclination to help in any way. Priorities at present include:

The refreshments team   Caroline Morgan has agreed to co-ordinate a rota to prepare drinks (and clear up afterwards) on our lecture evenings.  Some members have already stepped forward.  More would be welcome to share the load.  Let Caroline know if you are willing - by email to cmorgan505@aol.com.

Someone to lay out the monthly newsletter    This is a vital role in our communications with members - not just about coming lectures but about bookings for events and membership renewals.  For some years Pat Mullineux has done this and offers to coach and support the person taking over from her. Come on someone (or maybe two people!) - give it a go!  Contact Pat at pat.mullineux@gmail.com.

A person to lead on the social programme     It would be great to have someone to plan and organise the event programme.  You would arrange the diary, contact and fix the venues and work with helpers to make it happen.  Those helpers could help in routine ways such as meeting and greeting, organising a raffle, checking payments and ensuring everyone has got back on the bus!  If you could help in any way, please drop a line to Graham Nicholson at chair.taswilmslow@proton.me.

Thank you!!
